Saturday’s Premier League matchup between Sunderland v Manchester United has plenty of implications at both ends of the table. United plays this early game which is then followed up with their FA Cup clash with Chelsea 48 hours later. This could mean that they play a “weakened” side to give some players a rest in preparation for Monday. I feel that their so called weakened team is more than enough to overcome a struggling Sunderland side who have several players out injured.
It will be interesting to see what tactics Martin O’Neill puts out. Will he decide to go for it knowing that they need results to keep out of relegation; or will he sit back and try to stifle United’s attack? I don’t think either strategy will work out for them. My prediction is a Manchester United win by 2-0. I have a hard time picking Sunderland to get anything out of this one and it could send them closer to their doom.
